Selkirk College forward Dallas Calvin has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 23rd.
The second-year forward put the four-time defending BCIHL champs on his back Friday night, scoring once and setting up two other goals to give his team a three-goal lead in the third period, and then playing hero after a spirited UVic comeback brought the Vikes even.
Calvin scored with seven minutes remaining in the frst period and set up Matt Martin's power-play marker minutes later to stake Selkirk to a 2-0 lead. Patrick Holland replied for UVic in the second period, but with just six seconds left in the frame Calvin fed Dane Feeney for another man-advantage goal.
Then, after UVic tied the game in the third period, Calvin ended the game with the lone shootout goal, beating Vikes netminder Scott Legault with a wrist shot. He was named the game's first star.
Runners up for this week's award include Selkirk College goaltender Austin Wells, Trinity Western University forward Jarrett Fontaine and Simon Fraser University forward Mitch Crisanti.
