Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce the addition of forward Luke Van Schaack (Gig Harbor, WA) for the 2016-17 B.C Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
The 6-foot, 180-pound winger spent the past season with the Hampton Roads Whalers of the USPHL Elite League. With the Whalers he netted 13 goals and 27 points in 30 games.
Prior to his time with the Whalers, Van Schaack played for the West Sound Warriors of the Northern Pacific Hockey League, where he had 33 points in 25 games during the 2014/15 season.
"Luke will add some great depth to an already deep forward group, says Eagles head coach Jason Greenwell, who expects Van Schaack to provide a boost with his physical play. "We look for him to make an immediate impact for us in the fall."
Van Schaack is the Eagles' third commitment this spring, joining Kyle Blondin and Tyler Zandhuisen. All three players are Washington State residents, showing the growth of the EWU Men's Hockey program as all three commits chose EWU over offers from NCAA Division 3 programs.
