Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from forward Taylor Bargar (Torrance, CA), who will join the Eagles for the 2015/16 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Bargar recently completed his junior career with the English River Miners of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. He scored 12 goals and added 19 assists in 50 regular season games last season, along with four points in three playoff contests.
Overall, the 5-foot-11 forward played four seasons of junior hockey split between three franchises. He also suited up for the Minnesota Owls of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League and the El Paso Rhinos of the Western States Hockey League. His career junior totals include 64 goals and 55 assists in 174 games, including back-to-back 30-point seasons in English River.
"Taylor has been productive at every stop in his career and we anticipate that he will continue that success at EWU," says Eagles GM Bill Shaw.
The Eagles have lacked scoring depth in recent years and despite boasting the BCIHL's leading scorer last season (Beau Walker) finished last in goals for. Bargar and other additions made this summer were made in an effort to correct the drop off in production.
Along with his ability to produce on the scoreboard the Eagles are expected to utilize Bargar’s versatility as he has shown the ability positively impact that game regardless of where his slotted.
Bargar will enroll at EWU in the fall and is the Eagles 8th official commitment.
