Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from forward Colton St. John (Anchorage, AK) to join the Eagles for the 2015/16 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
St. John comes to EWU from the Comox Valley Glacier Kings of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. The 5-foot-10 St. John currently has 10 points in 14 games since joining the Glacier Kings in a mid-season trade from the KIJHL's Princeton Posse, where he had 23 points in 26 games.
Last season, St. John split time between the Nelson Leafs and Creston Valley Thunder Cats of the KIJHL. In two years of junior hockey St. John has posted 56 points in 69 games split between four teams.
St. John, a native of Anchorage, AK will be re-united with a familiar face in former teammate Aaron Dunlap, who committed last week.
"Colton has played in a few different stops over the last year but much of that is related to him being a 20-year old import with the limits that leagues have on how many of each a team can have," says Eagles Associate Coach Pat Hanlon.
"Another big selling point on him was the ability to put up points with every team he’s played for. We feel he should plug in nicely with our group as it stands now and what we plan to augment it with this spring."
The Eagles will host Simon Fraser University on Saturday at 7:00 PM at the EWU Recreation Complex. The game is also available on Fast Hockey.
