Selkirk College forward Jackson Garrett has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 19th.
On Friday, Garrett netted a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Saints to a 5-1 victory over Eastern Washington University in the team's home opener at the Castlegar Recreation Complex.
The third-year forward scored the game's opening goal early in the first period, helped set up the eventual game winner by linemate Logan Proulx in the second, and scored two more in the third to earn first star honours in his regular season debut after missing the start to the season with an injury.
The result put the back-to-back league champions in the win column following an 0-2-1 start to the season and extended their BCIHL home winning streak to 25 games.
Runners up for this week's award include Trinity Western University forward Cody Fidgett, Simon Fraser University forward Adam Rossi and Selkirk College forward Darnell Dyck.
