The Selkirk College Saints are pleased to announce that local forward Jesse Knowler has agreed to attend Selkirk College and suit up for the Saints in the BCIHL.
Knowler, a 5’9, 170-pound product of Castlegar, BC joins the Saints after spending two seasons with the Trail Smoke Eaters BCHL, and one with the Prince Albert Raiders WHL. He accumulated 57 points in 84 games for the Smokies and will solidify the Saints depth at the center ice position.
“We are thrilled to have Jesse with us this season,” said Head Coach Alex Evin. “He is a very skilled, responsible center man who understands how to compete at a high level, and we are expecting him to contribute immensely on the ice and in the classroom.”
Knowler is no stranger to the Saints coaching staff, having played under Associate Coach Brent Heaven for the Kootenay Ice MML program and the Trail Smoke Eaters. Evin is also familiar with Knowler from being the goalie coach for the BCHL’s Smoke Eaters in 2012-13.
“I’ve seen Jesse play a lot of hockey over the last two seasons. Everything that we’ve seen about him should make him a successful player in our league and in the community.”
“I am extremely excited to join the Saints and begin my post secondary education at Selkirk College. Thanks to Alex Evin and the Saints staff for allowing me the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of the Saints hockey team,” Knowler commented.
Knowler will make his Saints debut on Friday as they take on Trinity Western University at 7:00pm @Cominco Arena in Trail. The Saints swept the Spartans in the BCIHL finals this past March.
