Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce the addition of defenseman Josh Rolfe (Aurora, CO) from the NJCAA National Champion Williston State College Tetons.
The 5-foot-11, 190 pound defenseman brings with him championship experience and a much needed left-handed shot on the blue line. Rolfe spent three years in junior hockey playing for three teams (Bozeman, Texas, and Boulder) posting 24 points and 173 PIMs in 75 games. Rolfe is a stay at home defenseman and has shown an ability to shut down the top players from other teams.
"With the talent level in the BCIHL you need guys like Josh that can make it difficult on the other team's offensive threats," says Eagles general manager Bill Shaw. "In past seasons we haven't had a lot of depth when it comes to shutdown defenseman and Josh along with a few other additions this year has really increased that."
Rolfe will enter EWU as a junior with three years of BCIHL eligibility remaining.
During his tenure at Williston State College he won two NCJAA National Championships playing 54 games while posting 16 points and 16 PIMs. With the Eagles, he will be reunited with former Williston teammate Al Maul.
