Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from forward Ricky Doubrava (Kennewick, WA) to join the Eagles for the 2014/15 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Doubrava will see many familiar faces when he joins the Eagles this fall after spending most of his junior career with the Seattle Totems and Tri-City Titans of the Northern Pacific Hockey League (NORPAC).
In his four year junior career, Doubrava posted 254 points in 191 games to go along with 528 penalty minutes. In addition to his time with the Totems and Titans, he also suited up for five games with the NAHL's Chicago Hitmen.
In Doubrava, the Eagles gain another player that can contribute on the scoreboard but also be very difficult to play against.
"With the addition of Ricky our depth is starting to round out to the point where all lines will be able to match-up against other teams," says Eagles general manager Bill Shaw.
Doubrava is the 10th commitment for EWU this spring with a few more expected to follow over the next couple of weeks.
He joins goaltenders Tyler O'Donnell (Kelowna Chiefs, KIJHL), Austin Brihn (Helena Bighorns, AWHL) and Corey Grummick (Rochester Ice Hawks, MNJHL), as well as defenceman Cody Breitenstein (Peninsula Panthers, VIJHL), Tanner Grey (Kimberley Dynamiters, KIJHL), Chris Watkins (Dakota College, NCJAA) and Brandon Wilbert (Finlandia University, NCAA DIII), and forwards Rudy Sulmonte (Corpus Christi IceRays, NAHL) and Tyler Thompson (Marquette Royales, MNJHL).
