Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from goaltender Austin Brihn (Mukilteo, WA) to join the Eagles for the 2014/15 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Brihn stands 6-feet, 180 pounds and currently plays for the Helena Bighorns of the America West Hockey League. This season, Brihn has posted a 24-0-0 record with a 1.62 GAA and a .944 save percentage for the Bighorns, who won the AWHL regular season title.
Previously, he spent most of the 2012/13 season with El Paso of the Western States Hockey League, posting a 2.44 GAA and a .914 save percentage while accumulating a record of 20-5-1.
Brihn continues the flow of players from Helena to EWU following former Bighorns like Alec, Burks, Justin Crosby, and Zack Maxwell. He is the second goalie the Eagles have signed this spring and they are expected to add one more over the next month.
Brihn is the 5th commitment for the Eagles this spring in what will be a year of turnover after losing 13 of the 26 players on this season’s roster.
