The University of Victoria has announced the team's first three player commitments for the 2020/21 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season, as forwards Lucas Thompson and Colton Hutchinson and goaltender Blake Pilon are set to join the Vikes.
Thompson is a 2000-born forward who has spent the last three seasons with the Pacific Junior Hockey League's Aldergrove Kodiaks. He scored 10 goals and added 13 assists in 29 regular season games for the Kodiaks this season and has six points in seven playoff contests, as Aldergrove is currently facing off against Mission in a second round series.
Hutchinson and Pilon both spent the 2019/20 season in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League with the Golden Rockets and Kimberley Dynamiters respectively. Hutchinson is a 2000-born forward who netted 15 goals and 24 points in his second season with the Rockets, along with 136 minutes in penalties.
Pilon joined the Dynamiters this season from the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Calgary Canucks and established himself as one of the top goaltenders in the KIJHL. He won 17 of 21 starts in Kimberley, posting a 2.08 goals-against average and .921 save-percentage. In the previous season he suited up in 34 games with the Junior A Canucks and he made one start in 2020 with the BCHL's Merritt Centennials.
The Vikes will make additional player announcements in the coming weeks.
