The BC Intercollgiate Hockey League announced today that Simon Fraser University forward Mitch Ledyard is the ANYTHING BRANDED BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 17, 2019.
Ledyard had three points (two goals, one assist) for SFU on the weekend as got back into the win column and moved into a tie with Selkirk College for third in the BCIHL.
The Port Coquitlam, BC product scored a pair of goals in the second period as Simon Fraser put the game out of reach en route to a 7-0 thumping of the University of Victoria. He also added an assist in the third period.
The 22-year-old now has seven points (4-3-7) in eight games this season and has only been held off the scoresheet three times. Ledyard sits third in scoring for SFU and is almost halfway to his 2018-19 point total already.
Ledyard, who is a veteran of 135 Pacific Junior Hockey League games, put up 134 points in 135 games with the North Van Wolf Pack from 2014-18 and won a league championship in 2015. He also played two games as an affiliate player in the BCHL with the Merritt Centennials in 2016-17.
Honourable mentions for this week's BCIHL Player of the Week include Trinity Western University goaltender Isaac LaBelle (40 saves, 2.00 GAA, .952 SV%), Simon Fraser University goaltender Patrick Zubick (20 saves, 1 shutout), University of Victoria forward Keenan Eddy (0-2-2), Trinity Western University forward Brandon Potomak (1-1-2) and Simon Fraser University forward Trevor Ayre (2-1-3).
