The University of Victoria is pleased to announce the signing of forward Caleb Griffin from the Rum River Mallards of the USPHL Premier League.
Griffin, a native of Regina, played his minor hockey in his hometown before going to Swift Current to play AAA Midget with the Swift Current Legionnaires.
For the past two seasons, he has played in the USPHL, first with the Ironwood Yoopers and most recently the Rum River Mallards. During the 2018/19 campaign, he scored 61 goals and 71 assists for a total of 132 points in 79 games with the Mallards.
“I choose UVic because it’s an excellent school where I can excel academically and it offers a hockey program that's second to none where I can continue to compete at a high level," says Griffin, who has enrolled in the Computer Sciences program.
He is no stranger to Vancouver Island after spending the 2016/17 season with the Victoria Cougars and Oceanside Generals of the VIJHL. As a rookie, he scored 10 goals and 14 assists in 44 games.
Griffin is the Vikes' fourth commitment for the 2019/20 season, joining forwards Keenan Eddy (Wellington/OJHL), Stratton Pickett (Red Lake/SIJHL) and Zac Gladu (Weyburn/SJHL).
