The University of Victoria is pleased to announce that forward Matt Hermary will be joining the Vikes for the 2018/19 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League Season.
Hermary, who hails from Coquitlam, BC and played his minor hockey at the Burnaby Winter Club where he won a Western Canadian Bantam Championship before beginning his junior career playing for the North Van Wolf Pack of the PJHL
The reliable two-way shutdown centre was an assistant captain last year with the Valley Wildcats of the MJAHL, putting up 7 goals and 19 points in 36 games. He has also played for the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL and the Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL.
"The original reason why I chose UVic was because of the quality of the Engineering and Co-op programs that the university offers," says Hermary. "I’m excited to pursue my engineering degree at one of the top end Universities while still staying close to home."
"When I asked some of the players I knew on the team about the hockey program, I received nothing but praise about the program, and was told by one of the players that it was the most fun he’s ever had playing hockey.”
The 2018/19 season will be an exciting time for the Vikes as they try to win their record fifth BCIHL Championship.
