Trinity Western University has added over 200 games of Western Hockey League experience to their line-up following a commitment from Langley, BC product Spencer Gerth for the 2018/19 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Gerth played three full seasons in the WHL, split between the Victoria Royals and Everett Silvertips. He totaled five points in 49 regular season and playoff games with Everett last season, helping the Silvertips advance to the League Finals.
“We are thrilled to be adding Spencer to Sparta," says TWU head coach Barret Kropf. "He is a tremendous leader that has made an impact in both Everett and Victoria. He will bring a wealth of WHL experience into our locker room, but he also brings depth of leadership."
His WHL totals include seven goals and 14 points in 183 regular season contest and an assist in 33 playoff appearances.
“I chose Trinity Western University over other schools, as it offers me a unique opportunity to grow not only as a student, person and hockey player; but it allows me to grow and strengthen my faith. The sense of community that TWU offers with including smaller class sizes suited for learning, and the location which allows me to live at home while I pursue my degree.”
The defending BCIHL champions Spartans will kick off their regular season in early October.
